Reading in groups & Mozart

Last week, the students read a story about a trial, The Trial of Cardigan Jones. They did a great job making predictions about what would happen and backing up their predictions with evidence from the text.  After spending a couple of days focused on that story, the students then read a reader's theater focused on jury duty.  They split into groups based on who wanted which part.  I loved walking around the room and hearing them read fluently to one another and helping each other with difficult words.

Also, this month for Music Monday we have been focusing on Mozart and the musical period when he composed.  They've been interested to know how he died and they learned about that, in addition to hearing part of his Requiem mass that he was composing when he died.  They have enjoyed learning more about music and moving to it.
