Fall break update

I've been doing a lot of planning and data collecting this fall break.  I put Reading Days for September into a chart and the Timed Test for September into a chart. I'm planning on updating this graphs every month and posting the update so that you are able to see the progress of your child. The graph results can be identified to your child by their class number.

For the first timed test on multiplication for the year, this is pretty encouraging!  Students need to reach 60 by the end of the school year, but seeing as how most students are 10% or more there, I'm sure the majority will be able to get all 60 done by the close of the school year
Most students read more than the minimum of 5 days/week. Great job!

Yesterday was the last day of the Terrarium/Aquarium projects. It didn't end with as much closure as I would have liked, but we'll discuss what they learned next week.

This next week, things to be aware of:

  • Math homework
  • Writing homework
  • Spelling
  • Columbus Day on Monday
  • Editing day on Wednesday--for the personal narratives that students have typed up; it will be from 9:15-10:15
  • Sharing day on Friday--parents are invited to attend as students share their personal narratives with the class; it will be from 11:55 (lunch ending) to 12:30 (Fun Friday)
  • Fun Friday with me for those that turn in their homework; we'll be doing a pointillism activity

Also, check out the Barnett website or Facebook page for the article on Grandparents' Day this weekend.
