Writing & Video from Math

Here are some more of the students' pieces from this past week. We focused on writing a descriptive paragraph using the five senses last week. Some students wanted to share that on the blog. Other students wanted to share what they've been working on during Work on Writing. I'll be posting some more tomorrow or Wednesday of other things students wrote last week. I didn't want to make this a really long post.

I've also included a video from the end of math on Friday when the students were practicing the four times table with a song.  Here are links to some of the videos I've used in class to help students practice the multiplication tables:

*Note: I have changed the spelling, added capitalization, and punctuation to make it easier to read, but I have not changed grammar.**

The Haunted Stapler
by Tessa

It was the 8 day of school. There was a kid named Hi and Hi had a teacher named Mrs. Knudsen. Mrs Knudsen and the class went outside, but Hi wanted to stay in and there was a stapler on the teacher's desk and when everyone was outside the stapler stapled Hi upside down on the wall. Then when everyone came in the teacher saw and said, "What are you doing?" then Hi tried to explain. He said, "Your stapler it stapled me to the wall" and the teacher said, "Well my stapler as been very weird lately. Anyways lets get you down from there. Are you ok?" "Ya, but I feel a little sick." "Ok then. You can go home after we get you down from there and I hope you will be feeling better tomorrow." Then he went home and the class went on and learned and the next day Hi didn't show up at school. So the teachers Mrs. Knudsen called Hi's mom and she said, "He still feels sicks but he is coming to school tomorrow because he needs his bike from yesterday. I work so he will be there tomorrow. So do not be worried. Hi is fine but he won't tell me what happened." "Well he was inside and me and the class was outside and when we came in he was stapled upside down and he did not do it because he was upside down." "Well, ok," said his mom. "Bye." The End.

My Vacation
by Chelsea

This summer I went to Rhode Island to see my aunt, uncle, and cousins.  We went to lots of states of together. When we went to states we road trains together.  Went there on ------, 2013. We came back August 4, 2013. My birthday was ------- so I had my birthday there. For my birthday, we went to some beaches and we did a daddy-daughter night. We went roller skating. We had so much fun that night. I rode on a long air plane ride. When we got to the airport my aunt got us from it. She here because if she brought anyone with her there wouldn't be seats for us. When we got to her house they were so happy to see us. They were making dinner for us.  We ate tacos together.  That's about my vacation.

When I go outside of my trailer and see a horse, I can always go by it and when I go by it I can feel its mild fur against my cheek. I can see its fur blowing in the wind. I can almost taste the water running in my water because it makes me so happy. I can smell the flowers around me.  I can hear the wind whispering to me. I can see the rain falling wall I am out there. I love my five senses!
