Frosting & Science

Today was a little bit of a crazy day in Mrs.Knudsen's class.  Students took a little quiz on multiplication, learned about the Work on Writing component of Daily Five, went to library for the first time this year, learned how to do a cursive lower-case b, and figured out how to make brown frosting in science. I was unable to take pictures during science today because I left my personal camera at home and the school camera was being used by another grade.  Needless to say, it was a messy, delicious treat for everyone.  Probably the best brown makers of white vanilla frosting were at Owen's table, though every table had a winner that figured out a formula for using blue, red, yellow, and green food coloring to make brown frosting.

The class was a bit noisier than they have been this past week. This could possibly be because they've been in school for a whole week, they were doing fun things today, or because I wasn't reigning them in enough. Most likely it is a combination of all three. Please work with your child on respectful school behavior, such as, waiting in a line to talk with the teacher instead of interrupting, saying nice things to everyone, and how they should wait to be dismissed, instead of just walking away when they feel they are done with something. I will do my part to work on this at school, but it will improve fastest if they are practicing at home and are expected to follow similar guidelines at home.
