Animal poetry

After reading about animal migration and a Native American myth, the students all wrote poetry about their favorite animal.  Here are the poems of those who wanted theirs published on the blog.

(Note: I have changed their spelling for ease in reading)

Tigers
by Elizabeth
Their glaring orange and black stripes
They really leave you in a fright.
When you go hear that beast
You feel like the tiger's going to have a feast.
When you stare into those green eyes
You think you're going to be baked to a pie.
But it's a nice animal.

Giraffes
by Summer
It starts with Gira
and ends with ffe.
Now you've got a giraffe.

There are tall tall trees,
big big leaves,
and forest all around.

Leaves leaves leaves
grass grass grass,
and food food food for this giraffe.

Grows tall tall tall,
never small, small, small,
and long long long is the giraffe.

Una-corns
by Audrey
They live on Una-corn island,
they eat flutterbys and poop butterflies.
It's the one and only one-eyed, one-horned
rainbowlicious UNA-CORN!

Dogs
by Hollyanne
Dogs are among us.
They run. I am stunned.
They eat meat and not parrots but carrots.
They wag their tails not snails.
They do not get sick but they do.
Dogs bark not be dark.
They are playful not dreadful.
Dogs are the best.

Zebra
by Zac
A zebra has horse-like feathers
It really is a majestic creature.
Black and white or white and black
This poem is by: Zac.
The zebra eats grass and weeds
If you scared one it would pee!

Neon-cat
by Brady
Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow
Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow
Meow Meow Meow Meow
Poptart body and a rainbow!

Elephant
by Alex
Flop flop flop, their ears go.
Stomp stomp stomp, their feet go.
Chomp chomp chomp, their teeth go.
Flick flick flick, their tails go.
Suck suck suck, their trunks go.
Fly fly fly, their goes Dumbo.

Unicorn
by McKenna
It looks tall and skinny
with purple hair and a rainbow tail.
It eats rainbows and poops out jellybeans.
It lives on rainbow island.

Elephant
by Tia
Elephants are big,
Elephants are grey,
Seeing elephants makes my day.

Elephants are great,
Elephants are fine,
Elephants make me rhyme rhyme rhyme.

Zebrafish
by David W.
Zebrafish hide a lot.
Zebrafish eat seaweed.
They have white and black bodies.
